International Premiere & CD
Acclaimed flutist Leone Buyse gave "Hibakusha" its international premiere on March 11th at Japan's premier venue, the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan. The piece will also soon be released on CD from Capstone Records in a new recording with Catherine Branch.

NFMC and SCI/ASCAP Prizes
Aaron's "All Rights Reserved" took first prize in the 2009 Emil & Ruth Beyer Prize from the National Federation of Music Clubs. His "Dulce Et Decorum Est" is a finalist in the 2009 SCI/ASCAP Student Composition Commission Contest (natioanl winners TBA).

Doctoral Degree
Aaron Alon received his doctoral degree from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, also winning the school's Cooper Prize in Orchestral Composition for his dissertation: "Everest" (for symphony orchestra).

Aaron Alon's music has been performed around the world, by such acclaimed musicians as Leone Buyse, Ian Davidson, Sounds New, and the Vientos Trio. His works have been included on three labels, including an upcoming release from Capstone Records, and have received numerous national and international composition honors.

26 June 2009: Sydney, Australia
Flutist Catherine Branch will perform "Hibakusha" at the Sydney Conservatory.

4 December 2009: Houston
Rice University's Shepherd School of Music Symphony Orchestra will give "Everest" its world premiere. Cristian Macelaru conducts.

2009: Rome
Flutist Andrea Ceccomori will perform "Hibakusha" in Rome (date TBA), initiating the new "Linea Blanca" performance format. (Concert postponed from January 2009)
